TTartisan 50mm f/1.2 X-Mount Lens. Short Review & Gallery
Just at around 100$, the TTartisan 50mm f/1.2 is a spectacular lens at this price point. I bought this lens for my Fujifilm X-T100 but it’s also available for Nikon, Canon and Sony mounts as well. The build quality of this lens is on par with professional grade lenses with very smooth focus ring and aperture ring that clicks distinctively. At 336g it’s surprisingly heavy for it’s size but that makes it really satisfying to hold in the hand and it balances really nice with the camera body.
In the right lightning conditions the image quality is excellent, and even at f/1.2 the center is very sharp, although at this aperture it’s hard to get the perfect focus since this is a manual focus lens. The 10 blade diaphragm produces very smooth and creamy bokeh that is pleasant to the eyes. Stopping down at f/2.8 and f/4 the frame is sharp corner to corner, the contrast is improved and color rendering is perfect. At f/8 I was not really able to tell the difference if this was a 100$ or 500$ lens.
However, not everything was perfect. The lens suffers from slight pincushion distortion, and if shooting in high contrast lightning conditions I was able to observe very prominent chromatic aberrations. Both of these can be corrected in software at the expense of slight loss of image quality.
If you are considering to buy this lens then I will highly recommend it, especially at this price point. It’s a great walk-around or portrait lens which delivers great results, however be prepared to test your skills with the manual focus at wide open apertures.
